This workshop will enable you to:
- Explain the role of effective communication in ECD leadership.
- Describe the elements of verbal and non-verbal communication and the impact they can have on a message.
- Differentiate between the communication styles and identify your own style.
- Understand how each style influences the workplace culture, staff morale and team dynamics in the ECD centre.
- Understand and apply the principles of active listening and empathy to foster trust, reduce conflict and support inclusive communication.
- Explain the value and process of giving and receiving feedback, including the sandwich approach to promoting learning, confidence, and open dialogue.
- Demonstrate knowledge of professional written communication practices, including notes, WhatsApp, and emails to engage parents and stakeholders.
- Identify the essential elements of a communication culture and plan that promote two-way, respectful, and inclusive communication within the ECD centre community.
