Outcomes of Workshop
This workshop will enable you to:
- Understand the South African National Curriculum Framework for children from Birth to Four.
- Understand the value of play and how to create a play-based environment.
- Understand The Early Learning Development Areas (ELDAs) and its link to the Daily programme for the various age groups.
- Create a positive learning environment.
- Understand the Daily Programme cards and their value.
- Recognise and apply the correct terminology within the Daily Programme.
- Know and apply the Daily Programme Cards effectively applicable to each age-group.
- Integrate the Parent Poster ‘Learn through Play’ with the Daily Programme Cards.
- Understand the classroom layout per age group.
- Understand and apply the requirements of each play area within the classroom.
- Understand and apply classroom management skills.
- Plan activities for Mathematics (ELDA 4) using resources in the Resource Kit.
- Understand that resources can be made of waste material for Mathematics activities.
- Design art activities related to Mathematic skills.
- Understand and be able to apply communication (ELDA 3) effectively in the classroom.
- Apply resources for the Resource Kit effectively for the class.
- Use relevant posters when discussing the theme of the week.
- Handling musical instruments with discretion and care.
- Integrate music and art (Creativity ELDA5) with language.
- Integrate Mathematics (ELDA 4) with Communication (ELDA 3).
- Understand what assessment is and why you need to assess children’s development.
- Learn how to assess using different assessment tools and resources.
- Be aware of learning barriers when assessing.
