On July 18, Nelson Mandela Day, Macmillan Education SA celebrated this day of service by spreading cheer to a well-deserved initiative based in Soweto. Vuli’s Book Club & Projects are aimed at children aged 4 – 18 years old, who live around the community of Dlamini. They are involved in a number of activities including nurturing their love for reading and growing their passion for arts.

Nomvula Msimango is a multi-creative, multi-skilled and multi-lingual artist with a passion for arts and crafts. Nomvula has dedicated her life to help underprivileged children in her community with literacy skills, and arts and crafts. She is the founder of Vuli’s Book Club & Projects which has over 600 registered children. Nomvula has worked with children from different backgrounds offering them counselling, art and social life skills.

We arrived on the morning to a heart-warming reception of children who sang joyful songs. Macmillan Education gave a word of thanks as we presented Vuli’s Book Club & Projects with a beautiful Reading Trolley with books as well as a full Reading Corner to brighten up the children’s reading space. We strongly believe that the club will enjoy this gift and use it to its full potential.
