  • Previous records such as agendas and minutes
  • Policy files
  • Financial files, including list of suppliers, audited statements, contracts, etc.
  • Change in signatories for the particular school’s accounts, especially in the case of higher-quintile schools and Section 21 schools.
  • Signing of handover checklists by incoming and outgoing SGB members
  • Election of members to specific portfolios
  • Co-opting members for their expertise
  • Sending out meeting invitations and agendas
  • Meeting protocol
  • Meeting procedures
  • Minutes of meetings
  • The roles and responsibilities of different members
  • Establishing committees and defining roles within these committees (section 30(1))
